Acropolis Museum evacuated after hoax bomb threat

The Acropolis Museum was briefly evacuated on Friday after an anonymous caller warned that a bomb would go off inside the building, according to police who said the call appeared to have been a hoax.

The police took action after the caller telephoned the news website Zougla.gr at 2.35 p.m. and warned that an explosive device had been planted on the site of the museum and would detonate at 3.10 p.m.

Police cleared the area and bomb disposal experts searched the premises but no suspicious device was found and no disturbances were reported.
