Dead laborer, 39, retrieved from well after 6 days
Rescue workers on Tuesday retrieved the body of a 39-year-old laborer from the bottom of a well in the city of Hania, Crete, after six days of efforts to locate him.
The worker was crushed by a large amount of mud while carrying out repair works at the bottom of a 17-meter-deep well last Thursday.
Four excavating machines and several members of the local EMAK rescue team were involved in efforts to save him but their progress was hampered by constant landslides and the need for water to be pumped out regularly from the bottom of the well.
