Papandreou party will not contest in snap vote

George Papandreou has said that his Movement of Democratic Socialists (KIDISO) will not take part in the upcoming elections.

In a statement late Tuesday, the former Greek prime minister and leader of PASOK said that his party, also known as To Kinima, does not have the “financial means” to run.

Founded in early January, Papandreou's breakaway PASOK party failed to win any Parliament seats in subsequent general elections.
