Greece buses migrants away from border as FYROM refuses entry to Afghans

Some 3,000 refugees and migrants were waiting at Greece’s border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on Wednesday as the flow of people across the frontier remained slow.

Just 860 people crossed the border on Tuesday as FYROM authorities are only allowing Syrians and Iraqis to pass. Afghans are being refused entry.

Due to the build up at the border, Greek officials transported migrants in 19 buses to the new transit center created in Diavata, Thessaloniki.

More buses are expected to carry people to the new facility from various parts of Greece throughout Wednesday.
