Elderly man faces prosecutor after dog fatally injures boy at Easter party

The 72-year-old owner of a Rottweiler which bit a a five-year-old boy in Kozani on Easter Sunday, leaving him with injuries that proved to be fatal, was to face a prosecutor in the northern city on Monday.

The boy had been celebrating on Easter Sunday along with his family when the dog, a family pet, attacked him for reasons that remained unclear, biting his face. 

The five-year-old was transferred to the hospital where he underwent surgery but his injuries were too severe and he died of blood loss.

It remained unclear whether the 72-year-old was related to the boy.
