Greek unemployment in July up 2.8 pct from June

Some 846,000 people in Greece were registered as unemployed in July – a 2.8 percent increase compared to June – according to the latest data published by the Manpower Organization (OAED).

Of these, 52.08 percent, or 440,584, had been without a job for 12 months or more, while 47.92 percent, or 405,416, had been without work for less than 12 months.

The majority, 63.31 percent, of jobless people in July were women.

The age group hardest hit by unemployment according to the latest figures was people between 30 and 44 (52.14 percent).
