Magnitude 5.1 earthquake strikes off the coast of Rhodes

The Athens-based Geodynamic Institute says a magnitude 5.1 earthquake has struck the area west of Greece’s island of Rhodes.

The institute reported that the earthquake hit around 11:57 p.m. local time Tuesday with its epicenter located about 27 kilometres northwest of the Dodecanese island. Its depth was measured at 56 kilometers.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.
