Will and prudence

This country must win back its leverage and restore its image in the world.

A growing number of signs (the latest being Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s expression of regret over the border decisions imposed by 1923 Treaty of Lausanne) indicate that Greece’s traditional rivals in the region are escalating their claims, as they deem that the debt-hit country has found itself in a disadvantageous position.

It will take determination and reason to avoid tension and bargaining under pressure. Above all, it is important that we step up efforts to strengthen the economy and the country’s place in the world.
