Greece’s current account surplus drops in August
Greece’s current account surplus shrank in August compared to the same month a year earlier, the Bank of Greece said on Friday.
The data showed the surplus reached 1.82 billion euros, down from 2.2 billion euros in August 2015.
Last year as a whole, Greece had posted a current account deficit of 7.5 million euros, far below the 3.77 billion recorded in 2014, helped by the reduction in international oil prices and by higher tourism revenues – the country’s biggest foreign currency earner.
