Walking a tightrope

COMMENT

A new wave of uncertainty in regard to the Greek economy is about the worst thing that happen right now – it would work against the country’s future and be extremely unfair to Greeks who have made so many sacrifices.

The disagreements between the country’s creditors are significant and have an element of the irrational. They must be settled, and soon. Greece cannot produce the large primary surpluses being demanded and this is something that only obsessive observers can’t understand.

As far as the government is concerned, the only way forward is an honorable compromise and focusing on returning to normalcy. Theatrics never solve anything, nor do they sway public opinion, which has become jaded. The tightrope that Greece is walking is very fine and could snap at any moment.
