Greece condemns attack on Coptic Christians in central Egypt
Greece has condemned an armed attack against Coptic Christians in central Egypt that left at least 26 dead and 25 wounded on Friday.
“Outraged by yet another heinous attack on Coptic Christians. Our thoughts [go out] to the families of the victims, people of Egypt and its government,” the Foreign Ministry said in a tweet.
Reports said gunmen attacked a bus carrying Coptic Christians that was heading towards the Monastery of St Samuel the Confessor in Minya province, 220km (140 miles) south of Cairo.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Islamic State (IS) militants have targeted Copts several times in recent months, and vowed to do so again.
