Running event to close central Athens streets on Sunday

Several key streets in the center of the capital will be either fully or partially closed between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday as some 15,000 runners participate in the 31st Athens Run.

The roads that will be affected include Vassilissis Amalias, Vassilissis Olgas, Vassilissis Sofias and Vassileos Georgiou avenues, Panepistimiou, Stadiou, Filellinon and Athanasiou Diakou streets, as well as Rigillis and sections of Pireos Street, Iera Odos, Petrou Ralli and Syngrou.

Those interested in participating can register until shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday, when the race starts at the Panathenaic (Kallimarmaro) Stadium.
