Cars without road worthiness certificate won’t be insured, says minister
Alternate Transport Minister Nikos Mavraganis told lawmakers on Thursday that he will be introducing regulations prohibiting private cars and taxis that have not passed a road worthiness test (KTEO) from being insured.
Mavraganis made the announcement in response to a question from To Potami lawmaker Spyros Lykoudis who said that old cars and taxis contribute to high levels of smog in the Greek capital. The centrist MP produced data showing that while the average age of cars of up to 1950 ccs in European Union is 10 years old, in Greece it is 15 years.
The discussion mainly concerned taxis, but extended to private-use vehicles as well.
