Greek military medics bring healthcare to remote islands

Rampelia Patinioti (c) is examined by military doctor Perikles Syros (l) during a mission of medical staff organized by the Hellenic Navy on the Aegean island of Anafi earlier this month. Three to four times a year, military doctors of various specialties from Greece’s naval, land and air forces, along with equipment and nursing staff, are transported by a Hellenic Navy warship to offer medical care to island residents. The missions use existing medical facilities as well as classrooms in order to provide medical attention. Doctors and their staff always receive a warm welcome from the islanders.
