Greece's January revenues down, leading to smaller surplus
Greece’s public revenues were about 500 million euros down on a year earlier in January, leading to smaller general government and primary surpluses than in 2012.
According to Finance Ministry data published on Monday, Greece collected 4.43 billion euros in revenues in January against 4.87 billion a year earlier.
The general government surplus stood at €1.37 billion euros in January, compared to 1.99 billion in the first month of 2012.
Greece’s primary surplus in January reached €1.64 billion. In January 2012 it was 2.47 billion.
Government arrears rose slightly in January from the previous month to 8.71 billion euros.
