Number of Greeks who found jobs in Germany in 2012 rose to 123,000

More than 123,000 Greeks found jobs in Germany last year, an 11 percent rise on 2011, according to recent figures.

Germanys Federal Employment Agency published figures late last week showing that until the end of October, there had been a substantial rise in the number of workers from the countries hit by the euro crisis.

Over 253,000 Italians, 57,000 Portuguese and some 50,000 Spaniards found work in Germany in 2012.

Like Greece, where unemployment passed 25 percent towards the end of last year, all these countries have experienced a rise in their jobless rate.

In contrast, Germany saw the number people in employment rise last year by 416,000 to a total of 41.5 million, which was an increase of 1 percent on 2011.
