Daniel Day-Lewis expected in Athens for 'Lincoln' premiere
Fresh from winning yet another high-profile industry award, a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the 16th president of the United States in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” Daniel Day-Lewis is expected in Athens for the film’s Greek premiere on January 22.
The Oscar-winning British-Irish actor is scheduled to attend a screening at the Pallas Theater. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the audience and a reception. All proceeds from the evening will go to Cerebral Palsy Greece, a charity which the actor has supported for a number of years now.
Steven Spielberg's biopic covers the last four months in the life of Abraham Lincoln and his efforts to outlaw slavery through an amendment passed by the House of Representatives.
Day-Lewis’s portrayal of Lincoln has also been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award, while he is also expected to receive an Oscar nomination – the fifth in his career so far.
Tickets are available through Cerebral Palsy Greece (210.965.0916) and at the Pallas Theater Box Office (210.321.3100).
