Olympiakos defeated AEK 3-0 on Sunday night to win the Super League title mathematically with five games left to play, as it has a 16-point gap from second-placed Asteras Tripolis.

The Reds strolled to an easy home win in front of a near-capacity crowd at the Karaiskakis Stadium on the club's 88th birthday.

Avraam Papadopoulos has now shaken off his serious injury from the European Championship of 2012 and is not only the mainstay at the team's center of defense, but on Sunday he scored two goals in the same game for the first time in his career. Djamel Abdoun added Olympiakos's third.

The result also means AEK has three defeats in a row now and is just one point from the drop zone.

That is so because troubled Aris scored a desperately needed win at home, thrashing Levadiakos 4-0 with new coach Soulis Papadopoulos replacing resigned Yiannis Michalitsos.

Aris, second-from-bottom is now within one point from AEK and Panthrakikos as the Komotini club lost 1-0 at second-placed Asteras Tripolis.

PAOK beat Platanias 2-1 at Hania in an eventful game that saw Dimitris Salpigidis score twice and then get sent off for gesturing at the assistant referee, becoming the second PAOK player to get ejected after Costas Stafylidis had got his second yellow card at the start of the second half.

Panathinaikos made it three wins in a row as Argentine star Luciano Figueroa converted a spot kick for the Greens to beat Kerkyra 1-0 in Athens.

PAS Giannina is level on points with Panathinaikos in fifth after downing Xanthi 1-0 away, while Veria and OFI shared a goalless draw.
