Athens-Thessaloniki train service to resume on Wednesday after derailment [Update]
Regular service between the Greek capital and Thessaloniki in northern Greece will resume on Wednesday after a southbound train came off its tracks on Tuesday, train operator Trainose has said.
The company says the engine and one of the five carriages plowed off the tracks but did not overturn when the driver tried to pull to a stop after spotting a herd of cows that had strayed onto the rail line in a rural part of central Greece.
No one was injured in the accident, but services were severely disrupted as the train was hauled off for a safety check.
