Police investigate claims of elderly robbery victims being knocked out with spiked juice

Police in Thessaloniki are investigating claims made by a 66-year-old woman who said that she and her husband were robbed after being drugged.

The witness told investigating officers that she opened the door of her home to a woman claiming to be promoting a fruit juice brand for a well-known supermarket chain. The 66-year-old said that both she and her husband lost consciousness shortly after consuming the beverage, waking up a few hours later to find that their home had been ransacked. She claims that the robber or robbers made off with 2,500 euros in cash and several items of jewelry.

The 66-year-old’s allegations came in the wake of a number of similar incidents being reported to police in the past two months involving elderly victims in the center of the northern port city.
