Mascots warm up for 2004 on ELTA stamps

To remind us of the popular Olympic Games mascots, Athena and Phevos, the Greek Post Office, ELTA, has issued a series of stamps which will be available September 9 – December 31, showing the mascots at the starting blocks and diving. The mascots train with their eyes on the medals’ stand. The stamps were designed by the Athens Organizing Committee’s Image and Identity department. In the unending work site that Athens and the surrounding area have become because of works being completed for the Olympic Games, and with nerves stretched to snapping point as Athenians slalom around heavy machinery, ditches, plastic tape and red flags, they should have brought out a stamp to mark Olympian patience.
