Spending New Year at home sweet home

Greece’s political and state leaders will be seeing in the New Year at home far from the spotlight. Right after the New Year’s Day service in Athens Cathedral, President Karolos Papoulias will receive the best wishes of Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, the leaders of the political parties and the armed forces and other personalities, in accordance with custom. The president left right after Christmas for a holiday in Germany with his wife and daughters. Karamanlis stayed at home in Rafina with his wife, their twins and his mother Aliki. PASOK’s George Papandreou also stayed at home with his wife Ada and their daughter Margarita. They were all visited by children’s choirs for the traditional Christmas carol singing; this weekend the children will be back for the New Year carols. Helbi wishes everyone a happy and creative New Year!
