Ambassador Miller defends Greece

The US Ambassador to Greece, Tom Miller, presented himself as a defender of Greece and its positions while accompanying Prime Minister Costas Simitis on his official visit to the USA. Miller told the BBC’s Greek service that the content of the CBS program on terrorism in Greece did not reflect the American position. It would, of course, have been better if he had made the statements to CBS itself, to CNN or to any other nationwide US television station. But it did something to soften the attacks on Greece, at a time when the international community has great expectations from the Olympic Games in 2004.
