Athens world premiere of ‘Freakshow’ celebrates Tiger Lillies’ 20-year anniversary
Contortionists, acrobats, dwarves and Siamese twins join Britain’s Tiger Lillies in a new show that celebrates the punk cabaret troupe’s 20th anniversary. Beginning tomorrow, the troupe opens a series of performances at the Badminton Theater, with shows running to January 23. Following the Tiger Lillies’ «Circus,» it’s now time for «Freakshow,» with the upcoming performances marking the new production’s world debut. With «Freakshow,» the Tiger Lillies enter the dark, eccentric world of taboos, where beauty meets ugliness as well as examining the vulnerability and desperation of those living on the margins of society. The show has been choreographed by Sophia Spyratou, with costumes by Claire Brashwell and lighting by Sakis Birbilis.
