Declarations of inheritance tax go online

People who inherit immovable or movable assets, such as cash, shares, cars or projects, have the option to submit an initial and amending inheritance tax declaration online through the myProperty platform.

According to the new rules applying from January 1, submitting the inheritance tax return electronically will be mandatory.

With the new changes, the following inheritance tax returns are submitted via myProperty for deaths since January 2022: The original due and overdue inheritance tax declarations, if no other statement has been previously filed in paper form; movable assets (cash, cars, company shares, listed or unlisted shares, receivables, works of art etc); and real estate within the objective system, with heirs who are certified users of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue’s electronic services.

Also, the inheritance tax amendments of the initial declaration (due or overdue) with which either new assets are declared or those already declared are amended, if the original declaration (for deaths from January 2022) has been submitted through this application.
