Japanese imports to Greece include bakery products

Small quantities of bakery products and sweets are among the items Greece imports from Japan, according to Agricultural Development and Food General Secretary Giorgos Kanellopoulos.

In comments to Skai, Kanellopoulos said that checks on Japanese products for radiation are continuing at all of the country?s entry points, adding that Asian goods make up a small percentage of total imports.

Other items brought over from Japan include fish for aquariums, seaweed, soya and rice, according to Kanellopoulos.

A list provided by the Japanese Embassy in Athens on Monday showed that imports to Greece in 2009 were topped by cars and boats, followed by iron and steel products and engines.

Next on the list came air-conditioning units, motorcycles, pumps and rubber tires.
