Roesler asks Athens for clear structural changes

German Economy and Technology Minister Philipp Roesler urged the Greek government to move ahead with reforms, as he led a group of 70 businesspeople visiting Athens on Thursday.

The 38-year-old vice chancellor had meetings with Development Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis and Environment Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou, and addressed a Greek-German Business Forum event on Thursday evening.

He stated that his country wishes to keep all eurozone members in the bloc, and that he came to Greece to bring a message of optimism. ?We are going through hard times, but businesspeople and politicians can provide the financial support this country requires,? said Roesler.

He added that the aim of the forum was for German businesspeople accompanying him to come into contact with potential Greek partners.

Earlier he had stressed the need for Athens to fully implement all measures announced: ?I am expecting clear structural changes from the government,? he said.
