PPC and Coca-Cola HBC power stock index higher

Most stocks on the local bourse declined on Wednesday, in line with many foreign markets, but the main index posted a small rise thanks to gains posted by Public Power Corporation (PPC) and Coca-Cola HBC (CCHBC).

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended the day at 659.62 points, rebounding 0.44 percent from Tuesday?s closing figure of 656.75 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index shrank by 0.32 percent to close at 253.03 points.

CCHBC, the stock with the biggest capitalization on the bourse, added 5.57 percent, Bank of Cyprus grew by 3.33 percent and PPC gained 3.19 percent. Leading the losers was Hellenic Postbank, which fell 6.74 percent.

In total, 58 stocks registered gains, 94 posted losses and 22 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 30.7 million euros, slightly higher than Tuesday?s 30.6 million.
