Visitors to Greek sites and museums up by about a fifth in July

Greek museums saw an 18.2 percent increase in visitor numbers in July and a 14.7 percent increase in their receipts compared with the same month of 2012, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Monday

Archaeological sites experience 23.8 percent increase in visitor numbers and a 13.3 percent increase in receipts.

During the first seven months of 2013, there was a 17.2 percent increase in the number of visitors of museums and a 12.4 percent increase in the respective receipts, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2012.

The number of visitors to archaeological sites during the first seven months of 2013 recorded an increase of 28.7 percent, compared to the same period in 2012. The corresponding receipts rose by 19.5 percent, said ELSTAT.
