Talks with Oettinger took place in a warm atmosphere

European Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger visited Athens on Friday where he met with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Energy Minister Yiannis Maniatis to discuss issues concerning the upcoming Greek presidency of the European Union from January 1 and the vital role of energy in the growth of both the country and the bloc.

Talks focused on the importance of completing the natural gas and electricity networks in terms of the security of European supply, growth and saving on energy costs.

Reports said the meetings took place in a very warm atmosphere.
