Industrialists ask for new measures to help sector stay alive

Industrialists expressed dissatisfaction last night regarding the results of the government’s inner cabinet meeting on industrial policy, saying it made no concrete decisions apart from setting up a ministerial committee.

“This is not the time for ministerial committees. It is time for measures. The government made pledges last year for a package of measures for the energy-intensive industry, but we have not seen anything yet,” a sector source said.

Industrialists are also worried about the burden on them increasing due to the government’s inability to control the deficit in the renewable energy sources (RES) sector.

The Regulatory Authority for Energy is expected to raise the RES levy companies pay from 14.60 to 25 euros per megawatt/hour next week.
