Second tranche of heating oil subsidy, worth 38.5 mln, due on Jan 23

The second installment of heating oil subsidies for this winter is due to be paid out on January 23, Greece’s general secretary for revenues Haris Theocharis revealed on Monday.

Theoacharis informed taxpayers via Twitter that about 38.5 million euros is to be paid out to some 327,000 successful applicants.

The subsidy aims to ease the impact of purchasing expensive heating oil for thousands of families after a drop in purchase of the fuel since 2012, when a consumption tax was raised.
