Greek airports flooded with charter flights

As the peak of the tourism season approaches, charter flights to Greek destinations are on the rise, even from countries that until recently had no direct connections.

In early June, for instance, Cretan travel agency Deltanet Travel plans to introduce the first charter flights from the Moldovan capital Chisinau to the Nikos Kazantzakis International Airport at Iraklio.

Last week Araxos Airport received its first charter flight from London, with 180 passengers on board. As of next summer there will be three weekly flights from the United Kingdom to Araxos, which serves the city of Patra and the western Peloponnese.
