European stocks fall 7th day as Tsipras to meet Merkel, Hollande

European stocks fell for a seventh day, as Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras prepares to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande in Brussels.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index dropped 0.5 percent to 382.11 at 8:08 a.m. in London. Stocks are heading for their longest losing streak since October as Greece struggles to strike a debt deal even as creditors grow increasingly frustrated.

The Mediterranean nation pulled back on budget concessions in new proposals Tuesday, after last week rejecting terms and deferring a payment due to the International Monetary Fund.

Deutsche Bank AG and Commerzbank AG declined at least 1 percent after Standard & Poor’s cut their ratings on the prospect that governments are less likely to provide aid in a crisis. [Bloomberg]
