Malls offer very low lease rates for stores
In many cases, the store lease rates on the Greek property market, especially within shopping centers, are even lower than in other Southeastern European states, such as Serbia and Romania, as the correction of the last few years has brought stores’ operational costs down significantly, at least in terms of rents.
Colliers International data show that the cost of renting a high-standard store in central Athens amounted to 140 euros per square meter per month in May 2015, but in a mall this dropped to just 42 euros/sq.m., one of the most competitive rates in the Balkans.
