TAIPED: Politicians have overcome sell-off inhibitions

Stergios Pitsiorlas, president of the TAIPED state sell-off fund, told Skai Radio in an interview on Friday that the 14 regional airports due to be conceded to Fraport early next week and the port of Piraeus are being passed on to private investors in order to be developed.

"It is not possible for the Santorini airport [pictured] to rank among the worst in the world in terms of infrastructure while the island is the number 1 destination," he said, adding that the decades-long political inhibitions against such privatizations have now been overcome.
