Ionian islands to pay for ads on Google, CNN and the Tube

The Regional Authority of the Ionian Islands has decided to launch a campaign to promote Greece’s westernmost destinations on Google, as well as on international media and the London Underground.

The head of the authority, Theodoros Galiatsatos, said on Monday that the objective is to strengthen the promotion of the Ionian tourism product on online platforms where rival destinations also advertise.

The funds to be allocated for advertising on Google will come to 205,000 euros. Another 180,000 will be spent on CNN, plus 80,000 euros to be paid to Travel Channel for the promotion of Corfu, Paxi, Cephalonia, Zakynthos, Lefkada and Ithaca.

The regional authority has also decided to allocate 20,000 euros to Paramount SA for the promotion of the Ionian Islands through advertising panels on the escalators of the London Underground.
