Air arrivals growth slows in May

The growth rate of air arrivals slowed in May, affecting tourism traffic for the first five months of the year, according to data from the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE).

The country’s main airports saw an annual rise of 3.7 percent to 1.8 million arrivals from 1.7 million in May 2015. The increase in the year to end-May came to 5 percent on an annual basis as arrivals topped 3.4 million.

International arrivals are declining at destinations currently hosting large numbers of migrants, as Mytilene saw a 60 percent fall. Meanwhile Aktio (up 23.2 percent) and Myconos (up 20.9 percent) posted the biggest rise.
