Greece aims to keep visitors from Turkey above 1 million

Greece is aiming to keep the number of tourism arrivals from Turkey above 1 million for the second year in a row in 2016, after reaching 1.15 million in 2015, up 18 percent from 2014.

It is with this in mind that various events are being held by the Greek National Tourism Organization’s bureau in Turkey as well as regional authorities wishing to increase their share in the Turkish market.

One such event, jointly organized in Istanbul by the GNTO office and the Region of Crete, heard from local tour operators that although Turks know about Crete, it has not attracted an equivalent flow of tourists to Athens or other areas.
