Inspections for receipts to intensify

General secretary for public revenues Giorgos Pitsilis has ramped up the level of readiness in the wake of the government’s decision to shut down any business found not to have issued a total of 10 receipts or receipts worth more than 500 euros in total for a period of 48 hours.

According to the decision published on Thursday in the Government Gazette, tax inspectors will place a notice at the entrance of the offending business explaining in Greek and English that it has been temporarily shut because of tax violations.
