Sales turnover drops again

The November 1-10 midseason sales saw turnover drop 13.5 percent compared to last year’s fall sales and disappointed store owners, the ESEE federation of retailers said Monday.

Two in three businesses said shoppers made fewer purchases compared to the fall sales of 2015, ESEE reported, while 49 percent said the sales period would not have a marked effect on the overall performance of the fall-winter season.

Just one in 10 small and medium-sized retailers believe that the fall sales have a positive impact on turnover, while three in four said that opening on Sundays led to negligible benefits.
