Tenders for tourism property lease

The Tourism Development Company (ETA) is preparing new tenders for the utilization of the properties under its management, following the government guideline for upping the pace of the privatization programs. Sources suggest that some of the properties managed by ETA are considered «mature,» in the sense that they are free from bureaucratic or other obstacles to their market exploitation. For the first time, ETA will proclaim a tender for the long-term lease of a 16,000-square meter seaside plot at Rio, close to Patras. This had formerly been used as a construction area for the Rio-Antirio bridge. ETA intends to satisfy the demand of local people for the creation of an exhibition center combined with a special facility for hosting various events. A study shows that the budget for the exhibition center will be between 4 and 5 million euros. ETA has also decided on the long-term lease of the marinas at Vouliagmeni in Attica and Aretsou in Thessaloniki. A series of tenders will involve the Xenia hotels that have been in decline for several years. Three countryside mansions on Mt Pelion, central Greece, will also be leased. The company further intends to complete the tender process for the long-term lease of the exhibition center at the eastern terminal of the old Athens airport at Hellenikon, while two more tenders are under way for plots at Anavyssos in Attica and Afantou on Rhodes.
