Rare Cycladic antiquities displayed at Athens museum

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis looks at two of the 15 Cycladic antiquities displayed for the first time to the public, at the Museum of Cycladic Art Wednesday. The antiquities, dating from the proto-Cycladic era (3rd millennium BC), form part of a collection of 161 figurines, jewelry, tools and vases built by noted collector Leonard M. Stern. According to an agreement between the Culture Ministry, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cycladic Art Museum, ratified by the Greek Parliament in September, the collection will be repatriated after being exhibited, in its totality, at the Met. The current exhibition will last until October 31, 2023. [Yannis Liakos/Intime News]
