Eight people arrested over safety violations

Eight people were arrested and more than a thousand fined during spot checks for violations of coronavirus safety measures, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) reported on Friday.
All eight arrests took place in the capital, ELAS said, adding that six people were arrested at two illegal gatherings.
Officers issued a total of 396,000 euros’ worth of fines, the majority (77.3%) of which pertained to violations of public movement restrictions.
