Egypt FM to visit Athens Tuesday

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will visit Athens on Tuesday to discuss regional and international issues, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said an interview with Apogevmatini newspaper Sunday.

Dendias emphasized that Greek-Egyptian relations are continuously strengthening and highlighted the frequent meetings he has had with his Egyptian counterpart.

In the same interview, Dendias mentioned Greece’s active role in the greater region and its participation in efforts to find solutions to issues concerning the international community. He also shared that UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen will visit Athens on April 21 for a meeting of all EU state representatives on Syria before traveling to Damascus.

Additionally, Dendias reiterated the improvement of Greek-Turkish relations following the deadly earthquakes that struck southeastern Turkey on February 6. He mentioned the visits of Greek ministers to the affected regions and the meetings between ministers of the two countries, expressing hope that the positive relations will be maintained. [AMNA]
