Porn star faces financial crime charges
A prosecutor working with the Finance Ministry?s financial crimes squad (SDOE) on Friday brought criminal charges against the celebrity, singer and former beauty queen Julia Alexandratou after the 25-year-old allegedly failed to declare to authorities a payment of 150,000 euros for playing in a pornographic DVD which sold thousands of copies this time last year.
After months of investigation, prosecutor Haralambos Tzonis has charged Alexandratou with making a false statement.
The 25-year-old allegedly argues that she had not knowingly participated in the making of a porn movie but that the sex scenes had been videotaped by a former lover before being packaged and released by a company called Sirina last March. The DVD, which sold tens of thousands of copies within days in March last year, has been followed up by a new release last month that also features the 25-year-old.
The owner of Sirina, Dimitris Sirinakis, allegedly told SDOE that he had drawn up a contract with Alexandratou for her to play in the original porn movie in exchange for 150,000 euros.
