Travelers from Japan tested for radiation

Greece?s Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) has so far run tests on 47 people who have arrived in Greece from Japan in an effort to trace any likely contamination from radiation, it announced on Tuesday.

Radiation scans at Athens and Thessaloniki international airports, which began after a nuclear power plant in quake-stricken northeastern Japan began experiencing leaks last week, revealed small traces of radiation on the belongings of 47 travelers, which, however, further tests deemed negligible.

Other European countries, such as Spain, Germany and Italy are also scanning passengers coming from Japan and their luggage to ascertain whether they have been exposed to radiation.
