Record turnout expected for Athens Fun Run

Up until Friday, over 10,800 participants had signed up for the 28th Athens Fun Run, Greece?s biggest mass sporting event, which this year is dedicated to the Special Olympics World Summer Games Athens 2011.

The race will begin at the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) at 10 a.m. tomorrow and will include two runs of 8.5 kilometers and 2.5 km, as well as another race of 700 meters for people with special needs that will begin at the same time in front of the Old Parliament building on Stadiou Street.

Those interested in joining the Fun Run can enroll on the www.ona.gr website or at the Kallimarmaro at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Streets in the center of Athens will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m.
