Three jailed for stealing late Cyprus president’s remains

A Nicosia court on Monday handed down jail terms to three men found guilty of stealing the remains of late Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos from his grave in December 2009.

Two Greek-Cypriot brothers, Antonis and Mamas Prokopiou Kitas, each got a jail sentence of 20 months, while an Indian national, Sarbjit Singh, was given an 18-month term.

Antonis Prokopiou Kitas is already in a Cyprus jail serving a life sentence for the murder of two women.
