‘Contract kill’ thwarted on Rhodes
Police on the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes thwarted what they believe to have been a contract killing on Thursday.
Acting on prior information, officers trailed one of the suspects, a 31-year-old Albanian man, when he arrived on the island, and up until he met with the other suspect, a 43-year-old Greek.
They arrested the two suspects on the spot during their meeting at an ancient stadium.
A search of their persons revealed a newspaper clipping with a photograph of the 44-year-old businessman police believe was the target,a handwritten note of his address, a bank deposit receipt for 12,000 euros and a handgun with ammunition.
